Web Browser with 4.0.4 - Application vs. Webpage

When I access a webpage in the browser that has an Android application, the application runs and not the browser. This is most noticable for the Facebook page (because the Facebook Android app is horrible). The webpage application being run is not installed on my machine, but runs anyway. My question:

Is there anyway to force Android browser to stick with the webpage and NOT run the application?
