Yeah I was for them for awhile, but gave up a few months ago!! Phones has been fine! LOL
A lot of my friends thought it was sweet when the task killers came out with autokill options but I don't use those. I just use task killers for unresponsive apps or just whenever I need to kill a specific app.
Task killers are still necessary. I think what isn't necessary are automated task killers that kill programs (or all programs) at regular intervals. Very often a program may be running in the background and if it's buggy could be causing a high load on the phone. Killing it can make the entire phone faster, but this situation is rare and requires manual intervention. So, they have a place for sure but not like some people may have been using them.
Just dumped watchdog, still running smooth!

Now this is a good thread with some really good info. For months I've been reading that task killers aren't needed but this is the first one that really explains what's going on in the background. Very cool.
