I, too, have been a die hard LP+ user for many months. Within the last couple days I decided to give ADW EX a try, to see what all the buzz is about. I also got bgill's Linear theme to go with it. The theme is cool, but I don't know that I'm completely sold on the launcher itself. Maybe it's just me or my phone, but LP seems smoother, and I miss the extra/scrolling dock bar and ability to use text icons. But I figure I should give it more of a go than 2 days... (edit: I haven't figured out how to make the theme persist after a reboot, which is driving me a little right now..)

Might have to check out Go next. Ran it when first came out, but haven't gone back to it in a while.

Thanks for the write up Abe - very informative!!!

Also, a total rewrite is in progress for LauncherPro, can't wait to see what Fede cooks up.

I have always preferred ADW over launcherPro. ADW just feels cleaner to me.

    -Convenient icon pop-menu

-Useful app drawer to uninstall apps and kill tasks
-Removable screen previews (Up to 30 screens)

Supported android versions: 2.0 and above
The app also lets you kill running apps and even uninstall apps from the home screen — something that normally takes an awful-lot of clicks to do on Android phones.
There’s a custom app drawer which lets you view installed apps alphabetically or by the date they were installed. You can also use this screen to see apps you’ve run recently or currently running apps.

I've also set the wallpaper in the app drawer, changed the icon to an app, and have a gesture to open the app drawer only.
I tried Launcher Pro several times and really really really tried to like it but Go is so much smoother and seems more customizable to me. I lol ed with joy when I accidentally scrolled where my phone button and such was and 10 more icons along the bottom showed up. 15 scrollable apps where the phone,+ , apps drawer used to be .
The portrait to landscape switch is seamless and fast
I've found more than ok apps and widgets on the market to replace the Sense specific ones

Nice writeup Abe. This provides a great overview of all the launchers, I'm definitely going to be referring people to this post.
