Google Voice Search Install
I found how to do this and am sharing it with everyone. Hopefully that will send a message to AT&T to let us use google
1. Download the VoiceSearch_1.5.apk from here:
http://code.google.com/p/voicesearch/downloads/detail?name=VoiceSearch_1.5.apk&can=2&q=#makechang es
Follow the install by ADB or Droid explorer steps in my post here:
http://www.backflipforums.com/forum/...arkt-apps.html
Once installed, reboot the phone. (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP)
Now you can add the voice search to your home screen and voice search by google. Once I have the google search bar working I'll post that too
This also works, once installed, press and hold the search key on the keyboard and it will bring up voice search as well
================================
If you get Force Close messages when you try it,
1.uninstall it...
2.Reboot (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP) & (un plug from computer)
3.Plug back in & Reinstall and wait 30 seconds & (un plug from computer)
4.Reboot (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP)
5.Let everything start and try again.

Thank you so much for this. Works great. I did not follow the directions properly (i forgot to reboot) but it works perfectly.
My baby was asleep so I had to whisper to test it and it still picked up what I said perfectly!

The link above for "how to install non-market apps" is dead.

Odd thing is, if you use the application manager on your phone, BOTH yahoo and google search are present, albeit both take up 0KB. I find it odd that both are actually installed, yet only yahoo is usable.

Makes sense.
Have you ever tried to install an app that you already had installed through the adb bridge?
It will error, because it's present in the package manager already. It does not surprise me that this botched version of android would have a dummy package installed that we can not remove.
Either that or the code has been masked out and still hard compiled into(more like out of) the OS code in which case we have the same problem.

APK link now "forbidden"
Does anyone have any other way to get GoogleVoice_1.5.apk? Now it seems Google has shut the door on downloading that apk. Says from my browser that it's forbidden.
