Dump Go Launcher since some people have reported... Weird behavior. Like advertisements that won't go away, increased data usage that can't be explained away but disappears when the launcher is uninstalled, and various other things.
to the forum!
If you really want to keep Go Launcher then I'd recommend digging into the settings and look for a wallpaper hack option. ADW has one that, if needed, once enabled fixes the issues with the wallpaper.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Really? I was under the impression it was the thing to have? Also the issue i'm having doesn't seem to happen to the HTC's my friends own? Any other Galaxy 3 owners tried it at all?

Screen resolution/size is different. I also doubt Go Launcher has been tested on the SGS III much by the developers. Maybe if it gets updated after the phones start hitting the streets in the US in large numbers the problem will go away.
As for "the thing to have"... You have it in your hand.
The phone itself is. The launcher... Not so much.
Every launcher has its strengths. However, I personally have had bad results with Go products and several people I know have had problems with Go products, and I'm not kidding when I said I've seen reports about mysterious issues like the ad that wouldn't go away. Popups ON THE MAIN SCREEN along with ads ON THE MAIN SCREEN that wouldn't go away until Go Launcher was uninstalled. You may not have this issue, of course.
I take it you didn't like the stock launcher, then? Have you tried any others? ADW EX ($3, unfortunately) has a "4D" app drawer that's actually 3D and I think rocks, it's customizable to the point of insanity, and you can turn the various delays down so far there's basically no lag. ADW has a free version that's also quite nice, just not as customizable and without as many bells and whistles.
Launcher Pro has one, but it hasn't been updated in forever that I'm aware of. Still, a lot of people swore by it in the early days.
There are a few others kicking around but I know nothing about them.
Anyway, as to the specific problem, I'm sure it's related to the size/resolution of the screen. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a way to fix it floating around somewhere in the settings.

I have used Go products for a long time, and I haven't encountered those issues that you had, sans the wallpaper. The occasional airpush ads can be surprising, but it goes away fine on my device.
I do second the ADW launcher. It looked pretty neat. Didn't like to have to pay for one though.

Hmm tried ADW and it does the same thing. I don't need it, i was just playing around really.
Curious.
Love the phone though, you're right that's the thing to have! :-D

I got ADW EX when it was on sale for 10 cents. I didn't mind paying that.
I've been using the free version of ADW for years, though, because it was included with my ROM. The user who reported the ad popups couldn't get rid of them for anything. Even rebooting the phone didn't get rid of the ads. After a few days of ads just piling up he finally uninstalled Go Launcher. I understand the frustration he must have been feeling, especially since they used over a hundred megabytes or so of his data allowance.

In ADW's settings there's a wallpaper hack. It might only be available for rooted users, though, so that wouldn't help you.
Have you tried downloading wallpapers sized for the S3's screen resolution?

That was really unfortunate. It must have been a rare random glitch that he got. Too bad it scared him away. Things happen. Maybe he had a custom rom or something?
I wish I was able to ride that promo for 10 cent apps. unfortunately at the time, I still had no credit card. But now I am ready for the next sale

Am having the same issue. Crop an image to set as wallpaper, only to find that it sort of like zoomed-in & kinda got 'pixelated'. Happened after I updated my S3 to XXBLG1. Sigh. Was working fine in the previous firmware. Rooted Galaxy S3, with Nova Launcher Pro installed.
Any ideas to mitigate the issue? Thanks in advance.
