Just so you know, Google Voice is perfectly able to create alarms for you using your voice. I use that regularly, and it can set by the minute too. Still, the addition of some widgets is a nice touch, although most people would want that to stay on the taskbar.

What is the big difference between this Talkclock and the normal alarm clock. The normal alarm clock will wake you with the tunes or the songs that you would set. This would probably do the same. For me alarm clocks are there to wake you up and that would only work depending on how determined you are.
