    Auto BT connect and play

    Dear Gurus,

Button tapping being the bane of my life, I seek a simple solution.

I've just got my hands on a stock Sammy GSII, unavailable in Arabia for the next four months. It's impressive.

    Here's my wish:

I want to arrive home, and hit one widget on my homescreen that will automatically pair with a Bluetooth device (home theater) and start playing music.

    One tap, nothing more.

Obviously, I will set my connection notification as 'Welcome home Sir. Cue music'

    Discuss.

Any and all input is appreciated.

    Many thanks.

I have absolutely no use for this, but I want to see it happen simply because it'd be cool and awesome and full of win. :D

Once paired with a device, your phone won't forget said device unless you tell it to or something major glitches, so that part of it should be relatively easy. The next question would be have you looked at Tasker to see if it can do what you want?

I did not know about Tasker. I was going down the route of 'Bluetooth connect' apps, hoping to tweak the settings and add a shortcut.

Tasker looks pretty robust though. I'll have a solid play with it later .

Many thanks, I'll let you know how I get on.

Please do. I'm sure you're not the only person to want something like this. I hope it works!

I may have a compatibility issue, and of course my credit card is still in the pub.

    Modern life is so hard.

    It didn't work.

Is there not a simple app/shortcut to just connect and play?

Daddy, please don't make me download iTunes, it hurts bad.

iTunes won't work with Android anyway.

Is your system broadcasting Bluetooth all the time?

My home entertainment system is always on, and ready to connect to a Bluetooth audio source.

    The nearest I've gotten is:

    Open player
    Choose track
    Menu
    Play Through Bluetooth
    Turn on Bluetooth
    Connect

I should've explained the iTunes thing. I could, in theory, buy a nano, dock it in my surround system, an set up a mirror to bounce the IR signal from the remote control to the theaters sensor and press PLAY as I come in, but that would mean going over to the dark side.

Would connecting first help? Or are you saying that the steps outlined in your post worked?

I can't connect until I get in the front door. Those are the six button presses that will fill the house with music, but surely there's a quicker way?
