    Well the biggest thing isn't an app, it's rooting your phone.

    I used z4root, but it appears to have done nothing, bar add some superthingy app that didnt work

    You might have to check the developers thread, the phone might be unsupported...have you tried running a root app?

    Yes, try a root-only app like Terminal Emulator or drocap2 (takes screenshots). In Terminal Emulator try typing in su and hit enter. The prompt should change from $ to # and that means root! Of course, you'll probably have to give it permission first, but it's still awesome. :D

    FBM gave two examples of root apps, they are apps that require root access

    An app based off SU (root) permissions. Download one of the free apps FBM stated above.

    Says something about su failed and a zip file has been placed on my memory card, reboot into recovery mode and flash?
