Went to the Verizon store, they were happy to replace my device with a new one at full retail minus the cost I paid for the CPO phone. Needless to say I declined. I bought the CPO phone because it wasn't $169 total. Called the warranty center, and they are sending another device to me FedEx next day, no charge. so, there's that. I will report on the new device, when it arrives. Fingers crossed!

Just a point of interest, the Droid has only been rebooting itself spontaneously, when it is not connected to my laptop via USB. Shortly after unplugging it, wackiness ensues.

Ya this is an issue. If you were rooted there a quick fix for it that works for most. No guarantee it would work for you but just an fyi

yeah I hope you get one without any issues. Droid xer is good and knows what he's talking about with Motorola Droids.

    Try again.

Handset number three coming my way. I won't give up 'til I get one that works, dammit.

Handset #3 appears to be a stable, and healthy Droid X. No reboots, and I've done everything and more with this one than the others, and the problem appeared in very short order. I have not connected it to the laptop via USB yet. The first two were stable only when connected to it. Once disconnected, as soon as the phones were locked, or timed out, reboot fits ensued.
