HTC EVO 3D or Motorola PHOTON

I'm getting one of these two phones some time this week but not sure which one.

I'm interested in the EVO 3D but need a phone that I can use in the USA and Canada but it says the EVO 3D is not an international phone.

Any phone will roam internationally -- it's a big problem up here next to Canada with people picking up Canadian cell towers and having to pay through the nose for phone calls and data. The EVO is NOT a global phone, no. I'd contact Sprint and ask about plans for use in Canada, though, so you don't get a $6K bill after a day trip.

Yeah I'll be giving the guy a call today or Monday depends if/when I have time. I'm with Verizon and they already have me elbow deep with what I'm paying.

I just like the EVO 3D but since it's not a international phone it sucks and I'm always a little iffy on buying Motorola for some reason.

Motorola makes solid hardware. It's the software and locked bootloaders that bother me.

So you would say to go with the HTC because of the software because I want something that's fast and fun.

Usually when I'm in Canada I keep the data off so I don't get hit hard on the bill and just run WiFi where ever I can find it to do my emails, etc.

You can use either phone in Canada. You want to ensure you get on an International plan. The price if you do not is $0.59 a minute. The Photon has less issues than the evo 3d. And that's coming from someone that does not like Motorola.

On a phone I pretty much use and abuse the data so if I can use both and just connect them to my WiFi I should be good.

Wi-Fi's free. At least from the carriers' point of view.
