Change Menu Background Color??
Hello!
I am a former iPhone-user but now I have changed to Samsung Galaxy S2. As all android users I know have spoken a lot about the flexibility of the system I have been looking forward to the phone. One of the first things I discovered and wanted to adjust was the background color of the menues. Why is everyting black? Unfortunately none of my friends knew how to do this. I have also tried to google but could not find any solution there either.
Surely there must be a way to get rid of all the black? Color adjustments must be basic flexibility, right? Please help, I am getting into funeral mode…
/E

The menus in apps depends on the developers who made them. If the developer didn't include an option to change the color, then you can't. App drawer (called menu in old phones) is black by default. But you can use an alternative launcher to make the background any image you want. And the status bar is also "as is" but if you'd root your phone (like jailbraking iPhones), you could change its color (and icons) aswell. For the keyboard, again you can use a custom keyboard from Google Play with any background color/image you want. Settings menus are and should be black (unless developers decide to change it) What else is black on SGSII? I think I've covered it all. :D
UPDATE: Messaging. Messaging is black too! :D An alternative messaging app can fix that.

You would need to root and then edit the framework images. Its doable but not easy.

If "black" is the issue, an alternative application would be an easier choise.

Thanks for your answers. I know that I can download apps to personalize the appearance. I was mainly thinking of the internal settings menues and status bar, they make me depressed. Did not know that the android side was so dark... Maybe I will get used to it. Until then I will try to replace all the default apps to more pleasing ones! =)

I never thought of it myself. :D It never bothered me. Since the manufacturers don't let to mess with their UIs, the only way to alter the stock ones is rooting your phone. Do a backup of your ROM called NANDroid in case you mess something up and you can alter your stock apps including the status bar.

Yeah black background sucks. It feels boring and feels like you are in some hacking site which is black world altogether.
There should be some way to change it.

If your screen is any of the AMOLEDs, black color saves your battery significantly, since the diodes are not lit.
It's a personal preference and I'm satisfied by the black backgrounds. But if you're not, hey, you're using an Android, just change it into whatever you want.
