I have a Nexus S 4G from sprint and Since they haven't got the 4.1 jellybean update if I flash my phone to cricket (for service) will I still get the update or do I just have to cyanogen mod it?

I'm gonna guess that if you leave your carrier, you're not gonna get updates from them. Since you have a nexus, I'd flash CM to it. That's the beauty of the nexus.
First be patient it takes time to get the update. Second you won't get the update on cricket. Third your phone will work like garbage on their network if at all.
How garbage cuz cricket is already garbage... lol

Meaning you may get to make calls and that's about it. And calls would be if there is no cloud coverage and your about half a mile away from their tower.
