Moving Country with My Samsung Note 10.1

    Hi,

I have a Samsung Note 10.1 which I bought in Qatar where I currently live.

In January I am returning home to the UK. Are there likely to be any problems using this device in the UK? I can't think of any but the way Samsung roll out updates be region makes me wonder.

Separately, I really want the jelly bean update. It has started to ship in the UK but not yet in Qatar. What would happen if I tried to install the UK version (model N8000XXBLK2) on my tablet which says the Baseband version is N8000XXALI3?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Chris

Hello Chris and welcome to the forum!

I'm not a technician but I can tell you that under NO circumstances should you install that update until you're 100% sure that it is designed for your phone's software. On other forums that I moderate, we've had people who were anxious to update their phones grab the wrong update and try to install it and the results were disastrous. Totally bricking the phone - hard bricking, as in "paperweight" type bricking. I'm not trying to scare you, but I'd be real cautious about grabbing something like that.

If you can hold on for awhile, I'll see if any of the Rescue Squad guys are around and send them over to give you a hand.

Welcome, thanks for joining us here!

I think Astrix answered you pretty well, but from what I know about the Galaxy series is that you should be able to flash the UK JB using PC ODIN. If there are issues, flash it back to the original stock ROM.

Most devices, the biggest difference between regions is what apps are pre-installed (netflix, Play Movies, etc.)
