    Help with Latest Update

I have a Samsung s3 Epic 4G touch. Yesterday morning it got one of those 'updates'. Since then it keeps randomly turning on the WiFi, the 4G, or both. I turn them off and it turns them back on. I have restarted the phone and tried removning the battery but nothing helped. It's driving me crazy and really ticks me off that this update has done this. I have found nothing on the web about it happening to anyone else.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks.`

Hello painoman and sorry to hear about the issues you're having. I can imagine how frustrating that could be. Perhaps a factory reset might help?

I turned on my Epic 4G Touch for the first time in a few weeks last night (it is an active phone, just not my primary) and I did the update last night. I do not use this phone as my daily driver, but I have been using it recently help troubleshoot problems.

The Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch uses the Samsung Exynos processor. In December it was found that there was a MAJOR vulnerability in the chip, potentially allowing apps downloaded to the phone access to information that could potentially put a virus on your phone.

You can try running the Connections optimizer on the phone (which I did before really even knowing what it does, because it sounded legit..right?). Here some info on what the Connections optimizer does, if you want to read up on it before trying it.

To get to it, go to Settings > Wireless and network > More > Mobile networks > Connections optimizer. If the button is checked, this could be what is causing you some issues. If it is not checked, this could help solve your current issues. Ambiguous I know, but this is one thing that I have done on my phone personally that as far as I can tell so far, hasn't hurt me.

Give it a try and see what you get.

Wow, you nailed it! That box was checked and by unchecking it, all of the random WiFi turn ons have stopped. I can't thank you enough. I think you saved my sanity...lol. Thanks again!
