Google says Honeycomb will not come to smartphones

Google has officially announced that Honeycomb will not be coming to Android based smartphones. Android 3.0 Honeycomb was specifically made for Tablets according to a Google spokesperson. Although, certain features that are present on Honeycomb will become available over time on Android smartphones. Google has not offered any information to what features will be ported over specifically.
So, for now the rumors that Honeycomb will be coming to Android phones has been smashed. Now we must have patience till Honeycomb features become available on Android smartphones.

That is a dream killer - with all of the new devices one would think the newest O/S would be planned for them also

TBH I'll be happy with Gingerbread on my next phone. Will get a taste of that Honeycomb goodness when I buy the XOOM.

This news just smashed my dreams to smithereens.
Was kind of looking forward to something similar on the new tegra 2 devices.

a little disappointing... since they've already started on Ice Cream Sandwich, i'm wondering if that won't be designed for both phones and tablets?? with the dual core phones coming out, i find it hard to believe they're just going to let them run on GB, which wasn't even designed with dual cores in mind. i've gotta think SOMETHING is in the works for dual core phones, don't ya think?!?!
