Ever wonder why HTC started locking the bootloaders in the first place? I mean, really why?

Not sure why they did it in the first place, they probably decided not to after their attempt to lock down the Tbolt failed miserably. I hope they don't change their minds in two years when I'm up for an upgrade.
Carrier pressure and $$$$. Well, both of those haven't disappeared. That means either we'll be seeing far fewer HTC phones on domestic carriers or this really is just a marketing ploy by HTC who had no real plans to lock the phones down once they saw how hard it actually was to do it well -- and how expensive. Of course, I'm most often a cynic.![]()
