Samsung: Expect Galaxy S III and 4G tablet in first half of 2012
The
hottest smartphone on the planet right now is arguably the Samsung Galaxy S II. It sold 120,000 units in South Korea after just three days, and just set a record with over
1 million units sold in Korea in the first month after launch in the country. That means that the handset is the
fastest selling smartphone in Korean history, although some cynics would say that Samsung had the home field advantage.
Just because the Samsung Galaxy S II has scored
outrageous quadrant benchmark scores doesn't mean that the phone can't be improved. The president of Samsung's Mobile division, J.K. Shin, said that the
Samsung Galaxy S III will see the light of day in the first half of next year. If the Galaxy S II has proven to be such a highly desirable phone, imagine what its successor will be like. Also, we should see carrier-specific versions of the Samsung Galaxy S II hit the States sometime this summer.

So if I don't like Verizon's GSII variant, I don't have to wait that long until the next iteration of this line comes out? This is getting a little ridiculous!!

Samsung did the same with release of vibrant in June of 2010, Nexus S in December, the Galaxy S 4g in February and some new one in July for T-Mobile. I agree it's getting ridiculous.

Any wonder why Samsung won't do software updates? Their attitude is "make it, push it out, [fork] it (edited for content by yours truly, aka moi), now make another." They hardware is good, the software is good, but manufacturer support is atrocious for that very reason.

Sorry Fuzzy, but I gotta blame US carriers more for all the delays with Galaxy S Froyo updates. If it wasn't for all the friggin' bloatware, we would've had Froyo LOOOONNGG ago.

Actually FBM is right. The biggest reason Samsung didn't push updates is because they said as i found here. I'm a little skeptical about Samsung response. http://m.gizmodo.com/5737002/the-pro...part-seventeen

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't all Samsung's fault, but at the rate they push out phones and the snail's pace of updates to follow... Yeah, I'm sure the bloat is part of the problem over here, but even still. It have the feel of neglect on it. And Samsung makes a LOT of phone models, most of them with very similar hardware...

True. I've not seen another manufacturer push out as many models in such a short amount of time as Sammy.

The Galaxy S GT-i9000 got Gingerbread yesterday. I believe they can push out updates just as fast as HTC, it's just that most of their other handsets (besides the Galaxy S Series) aren't really high-end. High-end phones always get updates before the others.

Either way. For me it's like android getting pushed too quickly. Their at version 4 of gingerbread and it still has problems. Why not stabilize your os before cramming another down everyone's throat? Simple we keep buying the newest and latest.
