Sprint Announces Samsung Conguer 4G Coming August 21 for $100 Bucks

Although we have been hearing quite a bit about the Samsung Conquer 4G for Sprint over the last few weeks, we didn't have full specs, pricing details, or a firm release date. Sprint and Samsung have now shared all of this info. Sprint will release the Samsung Conquer 4G on August 21st, and it will sell for $99 dollars, after a mail-in rebate of $50 dollars on a new 2-year contract. Here are the full specs:
    • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
    • 3.5-inch HVGA 320480 display
    • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor
    • Full-sliding QWERTY keyboard
    • 3.1-megapixel rear-facing camera
    • 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera
    • 4G WiMax support

This actually looks like a fairly attractive mid-range device. What is most enticing is that this is the first Sprint phone that has both a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a front-facing camera, with Gingerbread. What do you guys think?

Like the look of it. Smaller size is ok. Good introduction android phone.

Is it just me or do the OEMs seem to have this idea in their head that slider keyboards are for entry-level devices only now?

No, Sprint is only one that likes sliders on most their devices.

That bites. I like keyboards. They keep my screen real estate free and they give me other options for things I can do with my phone -- like locking the screen in landscape orientation.

Is it running GB?? By the pics that's Froyo. But things do change from pics to production. But it does look like stock Android so that's a plus.

And I wouldn't say sliders are relegated to mid tier status. The D3 is a top tier phone, even without 4G

    end of line...

At this point in the game, no 3G phone can be considered top-tier, even if everything else about it is right. Top of the mid-range, yes, but not top-tier.

And since it has Blur, well... Even if Moto did a good job with it...

You gotta stop hating on the blur......and really. Until 4G is nation wide and stable I would disagree that a 3G phone can't have top tier status. Maybe next year or the year after yeah, but for now 4G isn't available in enough places to say its a requirement for being on top.

    end of line...

But it seems so... Ill-defined. Softened. Around the edges, like. And nothing seems sharp. It seems all, I dunno, blurry.

I just don't want it on my phone, is all. Throw in the locked bootloader and we had a dealbreaker for my buying the phone, which sucks, because Moto does solid hardware.

From an overall point of view, 4G is where it's at right now. I doubt I'll have 4G up here in 2 years, to be honest, so I was quite content hearing it was 3G. But to release a phone without 4G does move it down a notch. Not in quality -- NEVER in quality -- but in features.

    Still, off-contract it's priced right.

But I want some more "cutting edge" phones to have sliders. I LIKE hardware keyboards.
