Update: It turns out that several websites were posting this info as an actual news story; however, an official statement from Sony Ericsson Indicates that this was simply a false rumor. Here is their official statement,"No such decision has been made. When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manner as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view."
In a bold PR statement Sony Ericsson has promised to update all 2011 Xperia line of phones to Ice Cream Sandwich when it becomes available. Apparently, SE wants to go out of their way to shatter their well deserved image that they are slow to update their Android products. In fact, not too long ago, Sony promised to update all their newest 2011 Xperia phones to Gingerbread, and they kept that promise in the long run. Could this really be a turnabout for Sony Ericsson? They certainly seem earnest in their desire to get competitive in the Android arena. We should know something for sure around October or November, or at least soon thereafter, since that is the likely release time of ICS. What do you guys think?
