Acer Backing Off From Touch-Screen Device Business
Even though the Acer Iconia Tabs were very good products, they haven't sold very well, unfortunately. Acer just announced that they were pulling back from the touch-device biz. Here's a quote from the PhoneArena article with some details,
...the company reported that it will be dropping its touch business group and relocating half of its 300 research and development personnel to other divisions within the company. Acer said it would not be abolishing its smartphone and tablet teams completely, but would be cutting the teams down to 30 and 70 people, respectively.
This is surely disappointing news for fans of the "little tab that could." Perhaps as the technology and the market continues to evolve, they may jump back in the game in a big way again. There are rumors that they still may announced one mor new Iconia tab at CES in January. We will keep you informed.

Greetings, Need help please
Greetings and happy holidays to one and all. I'm tacking this onto a post/thread ? (I'm new to this so plz excuse any newbee errors) about tablets. I just got a Toshiba Thrive T1032 & really like it so far, I picked it over others because I like the idea of being able to swap out batteries myself. My problem is playing my movies off my portable hard drive. The two devices are on speaking terms, the 1032 will play my music off the portable hard drive and it will play movies off Netflix, but not my digital downloads or even my self burned movies (legit, of course) I have tried to download and install MX player and it's "go along" MX Player Codec (ARMv7) but when I go to run my movies my tablet says it's unable to play it. The prob. is not in my "portable" hd, because I tried it with a 4 GB "thumb" drive with the same results. Now this is important to me because I bought it for the extended battery life and I fly west to east on multi hour plane trips home a few times a year so the entertainment need is of high priority. This is my first experience with Android and apps, I really need and would appreciate some help. Any ideas please reply to rogers98466@gmail.com , Sincerely, thnx
