We brought you the story of how Verizon was going to implement a hard requirement that all manufacturers either equip their phones with LTE radios or they can shop their goods elsewhere. That strong statement has prompted a rebuttal from Big Red. Mac Observer wrote yesterday that a reporter of theirs questioned Verizon Representatives about the veracity of this report. While they admit that is the long term goal it is "still along way off."

The Mac Observer article goes into detail and writes:

TMO spoke to several Verizon wireless representatives at CES and asked them the question. The response was, first, they havenít seen any corporate information to that effect. Or any imposed deadlines. Secondly, they said that while the goal is to have all of its customers on LTE, ďthatís a long way off.
