Qualcomm Claims it's S4 Snapdragon Runs Roughshod on Nvidia's Tegra 3
It's a delicate thing to talk about one design being better than the other, so I'm going to leave you to decide whether four is better than two and whether size matters ~ Rob Chandhok
Rob Chandhok, Qualcomm's SVP of software strategy, goes on to say that the "S4 dual-core outperforms most quad-core chips - not because of one thing, but because of the overall systems approach." Rob adds the Adreno 320 GPU will deliver 4x better performance without sacrificing battery life. Clock speed is only one part of the equation when it comes to performance, and Qualcomm addresses this by stating that they "just don't think about how fast the CPU is going to be, but the balance between CPU and GPU - all the components of the hardware chain and how they relate to operating systems."
The snapdragon S4 will be featured in the HTC One X, Asus's Padfone and future Windows 8 handsets. We can't wait for the SoC to drop into the market where it will see it's fair share of comparo's and benchmarks. When a company makes a strong claim you can bet it will be taken to task.

This is like comparing AMD to Intel. Nvidia is like AMD, they have all the cores you think you want. Qualcomm is like Intel in that they have the best architecture.
Which one always wins out? The better architecture. Qualcomm's A15-like base architecture is superior to Tegra 3 in many different ways, especially IPC (instructions per clock). MUCH better. I'm sure that in heavily threaded apps, wherever there are actually heavily threaded apps on Android, Tegra 3 maybe able to keep up...
