LG Decides to Dump Windows Phones to Focus on Android

Sometimes we have to report the "not so good" news along with the good news. Apparently, LG has decided to stop working on Windows Phone devices, and will instead focus entirely on Android phones. A spokes person from LG indicated that although they will, "continue research and development efforts" on Windows mobile products, they will not move forward with any new Windows Phone devices because, "The total unit of Windows Phone sold in the global market is not a meaningful figure."

It's important to note that while Microsoft did lose this LG partnership (for now) of potential Windows Phone devices, things are still looking very bright for the platform. Nokia, HTC and Samsung are still committed to working on Windows Phone devices, and (as we reported previously) Verizon is supportive of Windows Phone devices in the future as well. Also, according to this report, Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft is planning to have a meeting in May with LG, and although the details and purpose of that meeting are obviously unknown, it is very likely a "damage control" meeting in which Microsoft will try to "woo" LG back into making Windows Phones.
