Poll Claims Samsung will Sell 50 Million Phones in Q2 and Become 'smartphone hero'
IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo said,"Samsung is expected to be the smartphone hero in the second quarter." This was quoted from one of 41 different market analysts in a recent poll from Reuters. Jeronimo further elaborated, "We are also expecting to see the biggest smartphone volumes ever shipped from one single vendor in one quarter, driven by strong demand of the Galaxy portfolio, particularly the Galaxy S II and S III."
That's not all this interesting poll found. According to the results of the Reuters Poll, most analysts predict that Samsung will sell over 50 Million smartphones in quarter 2, while Apple will have only sold 30.5 Million. According to their poll, Samsung and Apple have been in a dead heat for several quarters as they overtook Nokia and dueled each other in their quest to be the biggest smartphone vendor; however, the May launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S III created a huge lead for Samsung.
So, basically Samsung is kicking butt and taking names... we could have told you that! It's always fascinating to see how the real numbers match up with the analysts' numbers. Regardless, it seems pretty obvious that Samsung has become one of the most popular phone manufacturers on the planet, and it doesn't look like that is ending anytime soon.
