This is a discussion on help me to root within the Android Rooting forums, part of the Android Development category; yes..want to root my dell xcd28 with eclairs on it..don't know much bout rooting so can u guide me..and i want to upgrade to 2.2 ...

    help me to root

    yes..want to root my dell xcd28 with eclairs on it..don't know much bout rooting so can u guide me..and i want to upgrade to 2.2 if possible..tnanks a lot..

    If it's a cell phone have you tried z4root?

    yes i got z4root and it gave two options temporary and permanent..but i dont know which option to choose...if i root with it then can i flash with a rom having 2.2 features..help..tnx..

    I went straight to Permanent root on my phone. Try that. If it fails, then go back and to Temp first.

    Use temp root only if permanent root doesn't work, and then you'll need to do something to make the root permanent or you'll have to re-root every time you want to use a root-only app.

    Let us know if it gives you any problems. And make sure USB Debugging is on before you try.

    You'll only lose root/su permissions when rebooting.
    If Permanent root works, I recommend it

    well i got z4root apk on my phone ...installed it..chose permanent option..it rebooted then and then i could see superuser and z4root icon in app drawer..
