Can Somebody Give Me the Lowdown on Rooting?

    Hey y'all

I'm pretty new to this site and I've never rooted a phone before in my life. So like the subject says, what are the pros and cons of rooting your phone? I know you can get pretty sweet capabilities with your device like with "super user" and whatnot, but what about warranties? I still currently have a manufacturers warranty through Motorola good through sometime next year, don't wanna mess my phone up and be out of luck, with no warranty to cover it if that's a potential issue. What can y'all tell me about some experiences you've had? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Ultra. That gave me a really nice outline. Thanks to you too, X-er. I'll be sure to check out the Bionic forum more in-depth as well.

Yeah that's the way it seems, but in that wiki article that x-er posted it sounds like some companies are permitting and even encouraging rooting at least on some level.

I'm sorry, I meant to say that ultra posted the wiki article. X-er posted the link to the bionic forum.
