Those sneaky little talented folks over at XDA managed to get their hands on Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Arc (http://www.talkandroid.com/28414-sonys-xperia-arc-gets-even-more-footage-and-camera-illustration/) system partition via the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) found in the SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html). Developer Lef.teris (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1707278) has been generous enough to share the files and post his findings over at XDA. The /system partition contains most of the Arcs’ core applications and files embedded in the ROM.
Since the Arc comes loaded with Gingerbread (http://www.talkandroid.com/31524-gingerbread-coming-to-htc-incredible-s-desire-hd-desire-z-and-desire-all-in-june-2011/) (2.3) the system dump could give developers working on X8 and X10 (http://www.talkandroid.com/28983-sony-ericsson-conveys-xperia-x8-and-x10-device-updates/) ROM’s a much needed advantage. This would be extremely beneficial since both of those devices are stuck running 2.1, with no Froyo or Gingerbread in sight. Here’s to hoping some talented developers jump on board with this opportunity and we see some excellent apps and functionality come to fruition for other devices in the X family.
