Not sure if anyone is following along in the Xperia Play forum over at XDA, but the dev team, Free Xperia, has released its first kernel. It was released by team member Blagus. It is an alpha release and some things are broken in it but its a step in the right direction. However, this is not for us VZW types with the R800x, we still need root for this. Which they are working on. IF you do flash this, you do so at your own risk and neither I, this forum, nor the dev team take any responsibility if your phone breaks, bricks, blows up or takes over the world(all hail SKYNET, err... I mean ANDROID)......

Also in the works is a CM7 port by Team Xperia. I for one am excited to see a dev team for the Play, this will push things along nicely.
