I would look in to XDA University (http://www.xda-university.com).

I would also try starting at Android.com. They break it all down.

Hey Phil,
if you already have experience in programming (java, c++, objective c), you can start by going through the tutorials google provides: Getting Started | Android Developers (http://developer.android.com/training/index.html)

All you need is Eclipse, at least thats the ide that most devs use afaik, the android sdk and the android plugin for Eclipse.

You can get the sdk here (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html), there's also a guide how to set it up, and Eclipse here (http://www.eclipse.org/).

Cheers
Paul

Depends. If you want to create games, I would suggest trying one of those that support multi platforms such as Xamarin & Monogame, Unity3D etc. Since you can easily port your games to Android, IOS and Windows phone.

Standard tutorial on Google developers page is a good start...
