Usually, we don't do this, but we need your feedback. We (Bitdefender) Just launched a new privacy Android app called Clueful (Bitdefender Clueful for Android). This app means to give device owners a way to monitor suspicious or careless apps that endanger privacy, handle sensitive data carelessly, deliver spam and access private information.

With this app you will be able to keep a history of your assignments from University. Each assignment keeps record of its title, description, due date and time, a related course, a related category (such as reading, exam, project, etc.), contacts from your phone’s agenda with whom you make teams, and has the possibility of reminding you when the due date is coming (via a notification).

Optionaly, each task can be related with a category or course. Courses keep information about their name, course number, notes and contacts from your agenda who are your professors.

On the main screen, there is a list of tasks separated by 2 filters, pending tasks and completed tasks. It is also possible to navigate tasks on 3 different visualization modes (tabs). The mode ALL includes all your pending or completed assignments, grouped by due date. Marking an assignment as completed is as easy as pressing a CheckBox. The mode COURSE shows a view pager where there is one page for each course including one page for assignments which are not related to any course. The mode TAG shows a paginator with one page for each category and one extra page for tasks not related to any category.

When navigating the details of courses or tasks, you can access the information of your team buddies or professors by tapping on the contact’s name directly inside the app, or you can perform quick actions, like make a phonecall or send a message, by tapping on the contact’s picture.

Homework 3 also has a quick search functionality, context menus for editing or deleting information, a nice user interface, and is compatible with devices running Android 2.0 onwards.

Experience the new Holo interface with beautiful displays and intuitive actions. All the pack completely free, and advert-free.

Required permissions:

1. Read contacts: in order to link your contacts with tasks and courses.

2. Vibration: in order to vibrate when a notification appears.

3. Run at startup: in order to reload the notifications that went off when shutting down the phone.

Quite frankly this is the priceless information for any Android app developer. In a nutshell here is the scope of what was revealed:


  • 12% of DAU (daily active users) search for apps daily
  • 50% of DAU search for apps weekly
  • 6 million unique search phrases being searched monthly and roughly 50% of those are misspelled words!
  • An app’s title should reflect it’s purpose, be short, unique and creative.
  • The first app’s description sentence should give a clear picture of what app is about
  • Screenshots and video are the crucial ingredients to entice people to download an app
  • There are device and geo targeting in place for reviews and ratings
  • Jain highly recommends that developers with a tablet app get the “designed for tablets” designation.
  • Make sure your app’s page on Google Play are getting links with targeted keywords in its anchor text and it sounds enticing in general.
  • Don’t imitate an existing popular app’s name and again - remember about all those 50% of monthly search queries that are essentially misspelled words.
  • Keep your app package (APK) small - small apps are getting more installs.
  • Create the viral loop for your app: A. Get users to review your apps. B. Don’t get users to leave your app. This can be accomplished by adding an in-app Google+ +1 API, and in the future, Google will release an API for in-app user reviews. C. Integrate Google Play’s newly launched game services.
