Here are a few pics of what I assumed was a water damaged HTC Desire, after about a year in the box I decided to use the battery as a spare and as the handset seemed to charge my spare battery I did just that.
Today I return home to see this screen but unsure as to what might be the best course of action.
Any suggestions welcome. Never rooted or anything like that.

That is the hboot screen. It is accessed by holding down the volume button while turning the unit on. It is safe to volume down to recovery, then press the power button. When the recovery screen comes up, there should be an option to reboot the phone. Choosing this should cause the phone to reboot normally.
