Just got my commuter case today!!

I had the same reaction as you, I was surprised at how flimsy the parts seemed (I don't remember it being like that for my Hero). But like you said, the case is the sum of it's parts and together, the two flimsy pieces make a fine case.

Absolutely! Thanks for the recommendation on that one. I never would have even checked one out otherwise.

So the defender is to bulky? If the commuter works for construction I should just get that.

Its kinda personal choice. For me the commuter has a nice smooth finish so it slips in and out of your pocket good. That and again for me the protection is top notch for my daily use. If you plan on being really ruff on it then the defender may be the way to go.

This is the case I have:

HTC EVO 4G Glove Snap-On Case - Body Glove Mobile Accessories

Took forever to get updated onto Body Glove's site.

The case works well, and the thin strip by the volume buttons that I thought would break hasn't broken yet (but I'm not hard on my phone or the case.)

The case is 2 pieces, and comes apart easily for cleaning or battery/SD card removal. The kickstand slot is wider at the end, making access easier (look at the second pic on the page.) Overall it's a great case for me. The back dis just BARELY thick enough to get the camera lens off the table when you set it down.

I have a separate screen protector on it (non-glare) as the case is just a case and doesn't protect the screen at all other than to add extra bezel height.

EDIT: Here it is on Amazon for a decent price (lists for $29.95.)

I gave my iPhone to my 5 year old and got an EVO.
