I think XDA has finally done it ROOT FOR 2.2

This is a discussion on I think XDA has finally done it ROOT FOR 2.2 within the HTC EVO 4G Hacks forums, part of the HTC EVO 4G category; Just flashed Netarchy's kernel and I'm pretty much done. Scrolling is a LOT smoother with the FPS fix. Any questions? I'm here to help!...

Jak there's really nothing to it, and I really don't see any possibility of bricking your phone. Most of those command line commands are just pushing files to the SD card, only a few of them are actually part of the process. Knowing that it makes it seem far less imposing. Both me and my buddy got it done without any problems at all. It took us about 45 minutes to do, and most of that time was spent reading and loading stuff on the phone. Piece of cake.

I think i'll hold off for a few. I still cant get past the ddms in sdk and that's a cake process too. Am i spoiled for wanting a 1, 2, 3 process lol

Well I'm sure there will be an easier method coming very soon. I highly recommend flashing netarchy's kernel, you're going to love how smooth it is. Scrolling in the browser could still use a little work but it's much better than before. I also deleted a TON of Sprint crap and installed wireless tether which works like a charm.

Hey Metalhead have you run any quad test's on it yet. Linpack, Quadrant, benchmark or any of them?

Yeah, quadrant was just under 1200. 55fps in fps2d, a solid 30fps in neocore (was getting 13-17 before). The new *more accurate* linpack came up with just over 33 mflops.

Keep in mind I am still running a stock rom, only the kernel is different. One of the roms I am thinking of flashing gives a quadrant score of 1488 when paired with the kernel that I already have. That blows even a 2.2 nexus one out of the water.

Yup, I watched that video twice before I did it. Have you watched it yet? Doesn't it look easy? It is.
