Just read that unrevoked 3.21 is now available and ready to use. It you have an evo with the ota 2.2 or bought it with 2.2 installed this will work. I ran it and now I can wifi tether finally.

quick question, (I apologize if I didn't search well enough) Is there any advantage to a evo with froyo2.1 now that this is out? I plan on rooting for wi-fi tethering (most of all), but will want to get into more tweaking when time allows.
With root you can select roms that have froyo or not. Just depends on what you like.

Yeah honestly there is no reason to not use a Froyo ROM, aside from the fact that not a single developer is making 2.1 ROMs anymore, the performance gains from Froyo are ridiculous.
At the very least, flash a custom kernel. You will be amazed at how much smoother everything is, and it will really help with battery life.
Is this the one click root solution?? I don't want to get into my phone and brick it.. I'm looking for the most simple one click method
Thanks,
MANDM
Yes this is the most simple way of rooting right now. The directions will tell you to uninstall htc sync and add hboot drivers and tell you how with screen shots. After that follow the directions on Unrevoked. Just a couple clicks and its done. The whole process took me maybe 10 minutes

ugh. i was about to do it, but unrevoked doesn't seem to work with my quad g5 Mac. alas, will have to go somewhere to use another computer. results to follow.
How do i know if i did it right? i went through all the steps and it said "this was a triumph" but then my phone went to the home screen while the unrevoked program gave another step after it said "this was a triumph." is that common or did i do something wrong?
