I went here: ROOTING For Dummies + Extras - Android Forums

...and it worked like a charm for me. Just did it last night. With the wireless tether, I've had 5 different devices connected, all running at the same time. (Wii, ipod touch, wifes EPIC, 2 pc's) No need to pay the $30 hotspot fee.

I have rooted 8 EVOs now, and the easiest and most reliable way is with Unrevoked 3.21, which is the method described in the thread that Ryanrpm just linked. I have become quite the expert in all things root so I would be happy to answer your questions. The only thing I asked is that you try to google your questions first, and do as much research/reading as you can BEFORE you make the leap and root your EVO.

thank you for your help; i am going to try rooting my phone as soon as I have time to go over this for dummies deal. I have watched countless utube videos teaching this and have tried to do as one or the other has said but to no avail...yet.

does anyone know why when I download an epub book to my laptop and paste it in my ereader file? i think it's called. it doesn't appear in my aldiko library. It also has a while icon next to it in mt laptop files?? I'm puzzled.

How do all of you learn so much about the computer world?

I ROOTED!!!!!! Thanks for everyones help; a thousand hugs. I'm not sure how to get a free hot spot and tether. Or where to check out different ROMS. I seem to be jail broke and don't know what to do with my new found freedom.

The main reasons I rooted my EVO was for the wifi tethering ability and for the ability to freeze the bloatware (the sprint pre-installed apps).

There are also benefits like using different roms and kernals...but I'm keeping mine stock for now. SetCPU is a nice app that can help you save battery life. Titanium backup paid version allows you to freeze bloatware.
