G2 Problem: Attachment (jpg) cannot be previewed or downloaded!
Received my G2 just now. I discovered a big problem:
while sending myself a picture that i'd like to use as my wallpaper, i inadvertently discovered that the jpg attachment cannot be previewed NOR can it be downloaded! all it would do is to say "Fetching Attachment" and have the circular thing go round and round, with the words "Please wait" next to it.
i have no idea how this could be and i don't know how to fix it!
may i ask for help please? Thx.

This may have to do with the APN settings on the phone...we had this issue on the N1 as well. Lemme dig around on the NexusOne fora to find that specific setting...

Okay, try these settings...Go to settings; wireless & network settings; mobile network settings ; Access Point Names. Now click on T-Mobile US to open up another page and enter the following settings:
MMS port should say 8080. MCC should say 310. MNC should say 260. MMS proxy should say 216.155.165.50. And make sure under MMSC it says:
http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Lemme know if this works!

alphawave7: thx for your post and trying to help me.
on my g2, i ended up, out of desperation, uninstalling the gmail app, then going to the marketplace to re-download the gmail app and re-installing it.
it now works as expected. i have not yet found any obvious errors yet, then, of course, i've not yet had it for more than 48 hours!
do you think i've done a "thorough fix"? or, have i merely patched up something and who knows if it will work properly from now on?
i can't imagine that HTC would not have a version of the gmail app that is not the MOST current version, and that it would have any issues with Froyo whatsoever. How can that possibly be? It is such a core part of what they are offering and selling! It's like BMW selling cars and their gas tank leaks!

Good question! I would HOPE it came with the latest, but it always pays to examine the software version, and compare it to the latest offered in the Market, which will be the most up-to-date.
That APN fix was for mms .jpg attachments which were not being sent on N1's, back in the day (January)...but it has been reported those settings work across all TMO phones, so I thought it was worth a try.

i wrote though that i downloaded it from the marketplace!
i mean: i uninstalled whatever i had coming on the phone directly from the factory, now it's gone. i cannot look at that version anymore.
i then downloaded a version from the marketplace, and it seem to work as expected.
so i do not have the previous, factory-installed version to compare with.

aren't all those settings you posted for MMS? not for emailing?

No worries..as long as it works! :D Indeed, many folks ended up going with Handsent over the built-in mms....seems Handsent resizes pics more accurately than the native app did.
