One Year Contracts are no longer given after April 17th

I am due for an upgrade on April 14th so I wanted a Thunderbolt
I called a few places such as LetsTalk and WireFly both told me there are no one year
contracts and how bad they are etc.

I called Big Red and they told me that the Thunderbolt is NOT OFFERED with one year contracts. I get so confused I checked with my local store they entered my phone number and said I can get an update on the 14th which I knew, I then asked about a One year contract and was told yes that will not be a problem and the price is $329 . its no wonder I am lost half the time.
Am I wrong thinking the one year deal is best at this time with VZW just entering the 4G market? with the one year deal I can upgrade again in Feb 2012

Thanks at first I thought she quoted me $319 but then it was $32somthing so maybe that was a price with tax
But it is good to know someone else got it for one year, some people told me I would be making a mistake not locking in for 2 years
but I feel I don't want to be stuck with this phone for 2 years things are changing too fast.

If you can get it on a one year agreement, that's FAR from a mistake. Even if they're out of stock, you can have it "D-Filled" (mailed) to you...with a one year agreement

Have a stupid question if you don't mind, you have been very kind with your replies so thanks for that.

I am very new with this Droid stuff coming from a BB , I am wondering if the apps I bought for a Droid 2G can be used on the thunderbolt
    via the MARKET

Most of them will be compatible, yes. Any in particular you're thinking about?

Get one you'll love it I love mine. It's one of the smoothest phones. Going from home screen to home screen is real smooth and its fast.
