What is confusing you? Why do you wish to root the phone?

    Hello there,

I'll try to be concise. I thought I would chip into this conversation as I saw someone was also "confused about rooting". All I would like to do is to remove a whole bunch of useless system applications and this is the only thing I need rooting for. I guess I could un-root it after uninstalling /freezing all that garbage bloatware in order to stay on a safe side and do not brick the phone accidentally. I was wondering are there any other ways to remove or disable unneeded and unwanted system applications without rooting? Will the latest update have that option? I run android 2.3.6 and my phone is brand new (just three weeks old). I would appreciate any comments, ideas or suggestions at all. Many thanks!

Root will give you superuser permission.
Bloatware only can be remove by superuser permission.

Unless you can decompile official stock tar image. Remove bloatware, recompile, signed and flash via Odin. Confuse:confused: so dont take the risk

Right, thanks. By reading some more on the subject I see that rooting is my only option.

Honestly speaking this is my first smart phone that I own and I have never thought that they (phones) needed some "hacking" boosts in order to be used properly. I mean to say I have to have root access to install / uninstall system applications when I thought that I had bought that access together with the phone, like when you buy windows CD you are allowed to install / uninstall applications by inserting the CD.

Frenly advise: Before rooting and flashing.
    - ensure you know how to unroot or return to stock.
    - ensure you know which can and cannot be remove.

Enjoy and welcome to the darkside of the Android world.

    Great. Thanks! Appreciate your assistance.

All I need is to remove crapware and I am pretty much aware of the applications I will disable / freeze.

I found and downloaded z4root.apk Do you think it is advisable and safe to use on my Samsung Galaxy Note?

Just to let you all know. Z4root (utility for rooting) does not work on Samsung Galaxy Notes. I tested it on my "Note" for hours. Don't waste your time. Hope it will help someone.

    Hello there,
SuperOneClick did the trick for me! Yay! I am now rooted. Now I've run into the next question... I found superuser elite on googgle play for US$ 3 and simply googled it later which gave me thousands of downloads of the same application for free... What's the difference? Would appreciate your experts' advices in this respect. Many thanks in advance!

First off, if you didn't get Super User during rooting, just download the FREE version from the Play Store. Secondly, don't, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE ROOTED, download apps from non-trusted sources. Third, you'll also want the free busybox/busybox installer from the Play Store, too.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...fou.android.su

    You pick on the busybox.
