How to Set Up Your Android.net Email Address (@android.net)

    Your @android.net Email Address

One of the coolest features that we offer here at Android.net is the ability to create your own forwarding email address. It allows you to show off your support of our site as well as the Android community in general. The email address is free and is setup as an alias/forward email address only.

What this means is that you create your address on our site and all email sent to that address gets forwarded to the destination email address that you specify in your User CP. It's that simple.

Most ISP's (and Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc) allow you to create an 'identity' and set your sending/return email address as any address you can verify that you own. This allows you to send mail out in whatever email program or provider you are comfortable with and still rock your @android.net email address -- the rest of the world is none the wiser as to who your actually sending mail through -- they just see that it's from an @android.net email address.

I can't go into detail on how to do that on all ISP's here but if you do a walk through for a particularly popular method please PM me a link and I'll link to it from here.

    Creating the Address

    1. Click on Settings at the top of the site to go to the User Control Panel. (http://www.android.net/forum/usercp.php)
    2. In the left hand navigation area, click on Edit Virtual Email. (http://www.android.net/forum/profile.php?do=editvmail)
    3. Choose your email address wisely - you don't get to change it in the future.
    4. Enter your existing email address that you wish all your email addressed to your @android.net email to forward to.
    5. Your email address will be added to the queue and created usually within 5 minutes.
    6. Done!
    7. Mail should automatically flow to your inbox - but please be sure to whitelist your address and check your SPAM folder and mark mail as NOT spam or it may be blocked by your ISP in the future.

    -----------
Instructions on setting up identities with various email providers will be here in the future.
