    New newbie...

Just wanted to say hi and thanks already for the good info here and future help I'm bound to need. I'm a month into this thing and all I can say is: wow. Been thru root and bye-bye bloatware, spent a week building battery packs and loading apps, then overclocked and was heading teeth first flexi-flyer-style right toward the land of rom mods, but just tonight read something and caught my breath with both hands, said Whoa, better learn how to do better backups first, eh?
And still I try to press the "on" button holding the X upside down.

I'm a little confused about the difference between Bootstrap and Titanium Backup. I understand that Ti does not back up system files, but will Bootstrap be backing up all my apps too? Was wondering if I should make extra plans for storing two large backups.

Yes bootstrap will back your phone as it is when you create the backup, apps and all. Titanium Backup is useful when flashing different ROMs because you can backup your user apps +data and restore them after the ROM install. Because when you switch ROMs, you must wipe your phone, and TiBU is a must when switching ROMs IMO. When I switch ROMs I first do a backup using bootstrap, then backup my apps+data in TiBU then flash a ROM, and restore my apps afterward.

Thanks, that clears up several mysteries for me. It's the fear-of-wipe that checked my progress in the first place.
