    Backflip just arrived!

Hello all. I just got my Backflp yesterday, and so far love it. I regulalry trolled this site and the Motorla forum before making the purchase, so believe I was pretty well prepared.

I do have a couple of questions, please bear with me:

    1. To install a tethering program, it was said somewhere in this forum that the SIM card had to be removed. Can the same SIM be reinstalled and used?
    2. Can anyone recommend a good program to download (subscribe) and manage podcasts?

  2. Android.net is the premier Android Forum. Registered users do not see these ads. .

    Ok, this is reassuring.

Another question I have: Is there a way to make Handcent the default SMS app? Or does the "stock" program have run?

I highly recommend trying out Google Listen. It's part of Labs, so it's in beta and Google warns about bugs and whatnot, but I have not personally had a single problem with it so far. Well except for one: the search function is not great. I have had to manually enter each podcast feed url. Aside from that, it's awesome!

Thanks! I found Google Listen on my own; it seems excellent so far. Also thanks for the tips on the messaging notifications--I hadn't thought of that!

This has all been tremendously helpful. So far I am loving the phone. The battery life is really, really bad though--but this could also be because I am always playing with it. My wife's phone (I got her the Backflip also) doesn't seem to have the same problems.
Does anyone know what happened to the Amazon MP3 App? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

The battery life is usually greatly improved by turning off the services you aren't using at the moment. Things like GPS and WiFi, for example.

It's just common sense stuff. Like not polling all your social networks and all your email accounts every 5 minutes, unless that's an important part of your life, of course.

Also, get an App Killer app ('System Panel' works well for me) at the Market for free. Use it to kill everything, except the stuff you use, whenever you power on the phone.

And get 'Quick Settings' at the Market, too. It helps you turn stuff on and off very quickly and easily and doesn't even take up space on your home screen.

    Hope that helps.
