    Hello from Ken G

I have been using Android for a few years now and really think much of the O/S.

Recently, I have begun using a prepay android phone to see if it compares to the high-cost contract providers. It is the Net 10, Optimus Net, LG L45C. So far, I am quite pleased. First, I figured out how to tether it to my PC. It has Android 2.3.4 with tether disabled, so I used Easy Tether. It works, but is limited. For example, when I tether my computer, I cannot access Google or Microsoft upgrades. That is all I noticed so far. I beleive that Easy Tether Free does not allow access to secure sites.

I am looking (for starters) to learn the following:
How to do I back up the phone?
Do I want to unlock or root the phone?
Can I upgrade to ICS or Jelly Bean?
Will rooting or upgrading unlock the tether feature negating the need for Easy Tether?

    Thanks,
Looking forward to participating in these and other discussions.

    Welcome to the forum Ken!
You are correct....Easy Tether does not let you access secure sites, so that really limits things. Have you tried Wireless tether or Foxfi?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

To backup your app data, you might check out MyBackUp Pro which does not require that you be rooted...
