Forum Noob and Smartphone Noob, Looking to Buy

Hi guys. My first post in the general forum contains more information. I am not a current Android user but I am looking to potentially become one, if I can find a phone that meets all of my needs. It's not easy, though, especially since I don't know much.

Thanks. Though... in my other thread... I asked and nobody answered.

Maybe I can get some input here. What's better for an international (cost conscious) traveler who wants a phone he can use to make and receive calls in any country, that I can use to play music in my car through the stereo, and that will double as a car SatNav?
I'm leaning toward the Acer Liquid Gallant Duo, but also considering the Samsung Galaxy S Duos.
Or... if there is another model you think is better you could let me know and say why.

    Thanks!

I ended up getting the Acer Liquid Gallant Duo. Cool phone, I guess, though as a smart phone virgin (relatively, I have limited experience with iPhones and a couple other models), I don't have much to compare it to. The screen is nice and clear and it seems fast.

The biggest problem I've run into so far is that the GPS doesn't seem to work at all. This is really disappointing for me, as the main reason I got the phone was so that I could use it as a substitute for a car SatNav. I can get a location if I have a wi-fi connection, but otherwise it is useless. Since I'm going to be driving from country-to-country without a reliable and consistent internet connection, this is terrible. I don't know what to do. I've found and read a few articles about potential fixes, but some of those fixese also require an internet connection, and others might as well be written in Chinese given how much I am able to comprehend them. (flashing a radio??? What does that mean? I tried showing my genitals to the clock radio I've got in the shower but that didn't fix anything)
Otherwise I suppose I'm happy with the phone, though I have only had it a day so far. I'm responding to this thread because it is the only place that I got any responses at all.
