These accessories for the ally (GPS mount + desk charger) make this phone possibly one of the most versatile cost effective droid options out there! oem stuff too so very streamlined looking also not universal mount ugliness!

Is there an option for mounting this on the vent? I've never much cared for suction cup mounting.

No, it just has the suction cup.

I was looking at mine yesterday. You could remove the arm and tie the base to your vents with a couple of cable ties.

You can get an adhesive backed metal disk from Amazon. Pack of 2 for $4.60. I use it for my Garmin so it will work for any suction cup mount.
