Negative, Android 2.2 update hasn't come out officially for the LG Ally yet.

Currently the only way to get wireless tether is to root. Otherwise you can use Bluetooth or USB Tethering.

PDAnet or EasyTether supposedly work for the LG Ally, but I couldn't get them to work. I ended up rooting my gf's LG Ally using UniversalAndroot.apk (one click rooting, awesome!) and Barnacle Wifi Tether (which works for Android 2.1)

Are you serious? I could have sworn that LG promised 2.2 for the Ally.

I think Bilgediver just meant that we haven't been given an official date for 2.2 release nor have we actually we received it yet. He wasn't saying we wouldn't get it (unless you don't believe LG).

No, I was being sarcastic. I think I am well aware of the fact that we don't have 2.2. He commented on something that was posted back in July and taken out of context.

Ok so I'm trying to tether, but not having much success. I downloaded Pdanet app and the program on my computer, but it says I need to download the LG USB Modem Driver. I've tried that from a few different websites but it still doesn't work. Am I doing that right or how should I go about fixing it. And if you could, please keep it somewhat technologically simple in language.

This site should get you the driver you need. The driver will let your computer see the phone. Then you only have to have PDAnet up and running on both phone and computer.

I need my PC computer access for my ally and not vice versa as I have no inet capability on my ally and need to remove store apps that are eating my battery aliive. I have BT on my PC but it is not compatible with my ally? (>%

You do not need to be connected to remove Apps.

Settings > Applications > Manage applications > [App] > Uninstall.

You need WiFi to connect your phone to the Internet, then. Maybe you have a neighbor with an open Wi-Fi. Did you try that?
