I found an app called 'Facebook for Android' and was going to install it but it said it would replace the Facebook app that came on my phone. Three questions...

    1. Is it just a newer version of the same app?

    2. If I install it and don't like it, can I get my old Facebook app back?

    3. Has anyone tried it and is it better or worse than the Facebook app that came with the phone?

    1. Its not really a newer version, its a seperate android app of FB I think.

    2. Yes, that is what I did, leading me to my 3rd answer

    3. It is terrible IMO. I use the browser and the mobile website or the pre installed version.

Thanks Taz...I think I'll just stick with the pre-installed app then.

Agreed. Notifications will take you to the browser, too. You can also hold down Home and get recent apps for quick toggling.

It's personal opinion for sure, but I just figure, why take up extra space for an app that just keeps kicking you to the mobile site anyway?

The app is also gimped compared to the mobile site and the space it takes up is ever increasing the more you use it.

Last week I was messing with the settings of Facebook for Android App. I was expecting a reply so I changed from 1 hour notifications (default) to 30 minutes (the lowest available in options). To my dismay, my battery ended up taking a big hit fast! For the first time since that initial week, my phone was drained when I got home. I have since changed Frequency to Never and my battery is even better than before.

Yet, I have no idea why I get notices still since I have Never chosen. Nor do I know why notices seem to work better, now. They show in my notifications bar and play the audio I have chosen, even. Can you imagine?!

In Facebook, you can set it to send you a text for certain events. Did you set this feature up?

No I do not use Facebook's mobile feature. I figure I should not need it with an Ally, and apparently I don't. The phone notifications take me to the Facebook App, BTW. I don't know why, I am just stating my new and good experiences.
