I have issues putting a real CC or my debit card in google's system, so I purchased a Visa gift card to use to buy apps. Works great for all the apps that want US dollars, but for the British ones, it's a no-go. It won't authorize. As luck woudl have it, it seems like every app I've been interested in comes from across the pond. Did I just buy the wrong type or is this part of some homeland security garbage that prevents gift cards from being used outside of the US?

Don't have an answer for you about the card being used outside the US, but the gift card idea is a great idea for buying market apps. I've been avoiding it because I don't want to use my actual credit card. Using one with only so much value on it is brilliant. Wish I was smart enough to think of that sooner.
Visa and MasterCard are global conglomerates. I don't see why it would not work. Have you contacted the distributor to ***** and moan yet?
Well, on the card it says "For US Purchases Only". It is branded as an 'online card' or somesuch. The thing is, I thought the market WAS a US thing...sort of like itunes. They really need to come out with Android cards. Sure would simplify things for me. I'm going to go buy another one and see if it lets me buy the brit apps.
