    Clearing Dalvik Cache

I rooted my ally with universal androot and am running launcherpro 0.8.3

I would like to clear my dalvik cache, but can't figure out how to get the phone to boot into recovery mode.

Using end call/call/menu I get the little robot exclamation screen, then it goes black and seems to boot into normal mode.

Is there a guide to how to do this somewhere that I am missing?

    Thanks!

What android version are you running? I don't think that Universal Androot works on Froyo. It also stopped working when the Ally was upgraded to rev C, I believe. If you are running Froyo (2.2.1 or 2.2.2), you can try Superoneclick. If you are in fact rooted, the call-menu-call end should work. Usually, you would shut down phone, then press and hold the three buttons until the recovery screen displays.

Unless you flashed a custom recovery you cannot boot into recovery mode.

What the guy before me said about Androot is correct.

Thanks for the replies. I am not running Froyo, firmware version is 2.1.

Can I flash a custom recovery now? Is there any reason too? Is there another way to clear dalvik cache?

I got it using rom manager/clockwork mod. That will allow you to boot into recover and clear the cache.
