As I had said in the 2.2.2 rooting page, it is a VERY bad idea to root using SuperOneClick. When you use SuperOneClick on the Ally, it disables fastboot, meaning that if something were to happen to your phone (say you could only boot into fastboot) and that was disabled - well, it was probably time for a new phone anyways. If you rooted using SuperOneClick, I am more than happy to fix your mistake (another one that's a mistake is using clockworkmod on the Ally. Amonra is there for a reason.) PLEASE come to the Ally chatroom on Freenode at http://webchat.freen...els=ally&uio=d4 so we can fix your mistake!

SuperOneClick does *not* disable fastboot, it just allows rooting with a method that does not provide fastboot a la Velocity Team's method. Any ally shipped with anything other than firmware version V6 does not have fastboot anyway.

Oh, no, they have fastboot, just not the one necessary to use the proper way to root the phone, which V6 has. Hence why we have to downgrade to V6 in order to root it right. And it does disable fastboot, not quite the way you're thinking of, but more of if you were to do adb reboot-bootloader or select the bootloader from Quick Boot, the phone would simply just reboot, making it inaccessible until you downgrade to get it back. And I'm not trying to start a war or anything, just letting you know that using SuperOneClick is not a great idea, especially if something goes wrong.

EDIT: I just talked with a dev for the team. SOC doesn't touch the bootloader, and any phone not shipped with V6 has the bootloader, but that is blocked, and the only way to access that is to wipe both boot and recovery. Doing so, however, only gives you access to fastboot, nothing more, and in order to restore Android, you have to flash a boot.img or you can use cat to disable either of them but you'll still have to flash a boot.img to get Android back. As I stated before, the ONLY way to keep everything, get bootloader, AND root properly is to follow that guide. Again, not trying to start a war.

I do agree, the downgrade method is the best and pretty easy too.

    Excellent Set of Cold Cases

    Excellent Set of Cold Cases
Without a doubt, WITHOUT A TRACE is one of the finest dramatic series on the air. Cold Case DVD Executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer who helms the also excellent CSI trio brings us a cast made in heaven, superb storylines, and some gutwrenching episodes. True blood DVDAnthony LaPaglia is superb as head agent Jack Malone of the FBI's Missing Persons unit. Considered rather a maverick man, who sometimes bends the rules in the name of justice, LaPaglia brings a strength and sensitivity to his role that makes Jack Malone one of the best leading roles on t.v. He is given fine support by Poppy Montgomery as Samantha Slade, a lovely young agent whose cynicism belies her innate compassion; Marianne Jean-Baptiste is Vivian Johnson, House MD DVDthe stoic team member who acts as the voice of logic and reason and whose delivery is so natural, she doesn't seem like she's acting; Enrique Murciano as the Latino, whose has a sharp sense of humor and a quick temper at times; and Eric Close is Martin Fitzgerald, the Deputy Director's son who wants to prove to his team he is a good agent and not just his father's puppet. Along with superior camerawork, editing and music, the series has given us some marvelous guest performances from actors like Charles S. Dutton (who won an Emmy for his role as the distraught father desperately searching for his missing son); Two and a Half Men DVDTim Matheson, Mackenzie Astin, Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, Tom Irwin, Veronica Cartwright, Lawrence Pressman...they're have been a ton of really good performances from their guest stars.
All in all, WITHOUT A TRACE is gripping, superb entertainment!
