I get MEID hex result from *#06# (and double checking under the battery even) which is only 14 char and IMEI needs to be 15-17. actually understand all this GSM vs CDMA crap I would rather not have in my personal memory banks. owell. sure would be kool if there was just an unlock code like so many are selling online but they all seem to want IMEI#.



anybody know of a place to get unlock code for LG Ally? surely it must exist. it would be too crazy for the providers if you had to root a phone just to switch.... hmmmm......

The Ally is CDMA only so you can only use it on a select few CDMA providers. And even then it doesn't function completely as it does on Verizon.

ahh, this is probably why it was on sale, eh? thank you so much for clarifying the situation. altho', I believe the phone could be flashed or "rooted" and then it would work with any system. that was a great movie, Valkerie. funny how it's take so long to make clear how all Germans were NOT in lock step with Hitler.

Not sure I know where that Hitler comment came from but I did know that.



Rooting a phone does not make it available for any other networks than it was sold on. I've been rooted for as long as there's been root for the Ally and I still can't put the phone on Sprint's network.



One can flash the phone to Metro PCS or Cricket but it's quite a PITA.

All the info is correct. The LG Ally runs on the CDMA network(Sprint&Verizon). GSM Network(T-Mobile&AT&T) The LG Ally can be rooted but NOT unlocked. I have been on both mobile networks and personally I like GSM better because you can take the phones around the world but the reception sucks compared to CDMA.
